Registration is Open for Annual Stu Nevermann Run

The 82nd North Iowa Band Festival is fast approaching, and so is the annual Stu Nevermann Memorial Run. The 4-mile, paved, chip-timed race is scheduled for 8AM on Saturday, May 29.

The run honors Stu Nevermann, a Mason City High School graduate who passed away at age 25 due to a heart ailment. This is the 32nd year the run has taken place, and funds raised from the event support SPIN DEVO, the Run/Read program at Belmond-Klemme, and the Mason City High School Cross Country Teams.

This year, the North Iowa Band Festival Committee is honoring Race Director Carrie Berg with the Klempnauer Award. The Klempnauer Award, named after longtime volunteer and festival supporter Dan Klempnauer, recognizes an unsung hero who works behind-the-scenes during the festivities. Berg will ride in the 82nd North Iowa Band Festival Parade and receive recognition at the afternoon Award Ceremony.

Online registration for the Stu Nevermann Run is open through May 27. In-person registration is available at packet pick-up from 4-7PM on Friday, May 28 or on race day from 7-7:30AM.

The race will be led by team members of SPIN DEVO, a local youth bicycling development team. Walkers are welcome. No strollers or dogs are allowed in the race.
Trophies are awarded for Overall Male and Female winners. First-third medals are given in the following categories: Under 10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and Over.

The race is sponsored by the North Iowa Band Festival; The North Iowa Touring Club; and Rod Pump Salon, Clear Lake.
