Take the “Pride in Place” Survey!
As Past Chair of the Greater Mason City Chamber of Commerce, I have seen firsthand how “Pride in Place” shapes not only how a community looks, but how it feels to live and work here. Pride in Place is more than clean streets, vibrant storefronts, or well-kept parks. It is the shared belief that our community matters, that our work matters, and that every person who calls North Iowa home plays a role in its future.
In the workplace, pride becomes a powerful force. When employers cultivate environments rooted in respect, inclusion, and growth, employees carry that same spirit beyond their office walls. They greet neighbors warmly, volunteer for local initiatives, and support small businesses. A culture of inclusion ensures that everyone feels welcome and valued, regardless of background or perspective. A culture of growth encourages innovation, collaboration, and a commitment to making Mason City and the surrounding region a place where people want to stay, invest, and belong. I know firsthand that we are fortunate enough to have many employers in our area that embody this culture.
Pride in Place is contagious. It spreads through everyday interactions, through the way we support one another, and through our willingness to listen and improve. That is why the Greater Mason City Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Visit Mason City, is preparing to release a public survey to better understand how residents currently feel about our community’s atmosphere. Your voice is essential.
This survey is a key part of a larger strategic plan. The Pride in Place committee will use the results to help develop a meaningful culture statement that reflects who we are and who we aspire to be. I encourage every resident to participate. Together, we can define the pride that already exists here and shape the future we want to create for North Iowa
