Each year, the Mason City Chamber of Commerce joins with its community partners to host the North Iowa Day on the Hill at the Iowa State Capitol during the Legislative Session.
Participants travel to Des Moines to advocate on behalf of our region. Partner organizations will have booths set up in the Capital Rotunda to bring attention to the progress happening in the North Iowa area; including Destination Iowa projects (Bike North Iowa and the Surf District), the Child Care Works initiative, and multi-million dollar economic development projects.
“It’s crucial for our region to have a presence at the Capitol,” said Colleen Frein, President & CEO of the Mason City Chamber of Commerce. “Too often, the attention in Des Moines goes to larger cities in our state, while rural areas are left out of the conversation or grouped as one entity with the same concerns. And while we may share similar challenges as other businesses and cities around the state, there are important differences in the needs of North Iowa communities. This will be an informative day and an exciting opportunity for us to band together as a region.”
Participating organizations include Cerro Gordo County Board of Supervisors, CG Public Health, City of Clear Lake, City of Mason City, Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Mason City, Mason City Chamber of Commerce, Mason City Community School District, North Iowa Corridor EDC, and Visit Mason City.
