The Wellness Team at Metalcraft, with strong support from company leadership, has created a workplace culture that promotes healthy living. Employees have access to mobility classes, Wellness Wednesday fruit, a walking path, insurance discount incentives, medical massage therapy, wellness challenges, an employee assistance plan, discounts on fitness equipment and gym memberships, and an employee garden. By prioritizing employee well-being – mind, body, and spirit – we help reduce healthcare costs, increase productivity, and support employees in managing stress both inside and outside of work.
At Metalcraft, wellness extends beyond physical health. One of our core values is Citizenship, and we believe giving back to the community plays an important role in overall well-being. Throughout the year, Metalcraft collects food and essential items for the food bank, supports United Way through fundraisers, participates in Earth Day cleanup efforts, and hosts on-site blood drives. These activities create a positive impact for both our employees and the communities we serve throughout the region.
A commitment to wellness is also reflected in the challenges our Wellness Team organizes throughout the year, including step challenges, water challenges, an Elements Challenge, and Wellness BINGO. Participating in a challenge alongside organizations outside our company was a new opportunity for Metalcraft.
When CG Public Health invited Metalcraft to participate in its 10-week “Better than Baseline” Wellness Challenge, four teams eagerly accepted. In total, 36 employees completed the program, which included weekly team and individual challenges and Lunch & Learns focused on wellness topics.
As captain of the Wellness Warriors team, I was inspired to watch employees commit to healthier habits by focusing on sleep, exercise, movement, and nutrition. The experience reinforced that small, intentional choices can make a meaningful impact and that wellness is easier – and more fun – when we support one another as a team and celebrate our progress together.
