Tech addiction has been recognized as a serious problem among young people for over a decade, yet little has been done to address it. Michael Mercier’s research shows that teens view their phones as barriers to more meaningful lives, even as they struggle to resist them. In this seminar, Mr. Mercier will give parents a framework to understand tech addiction, share teens’ perspectives on screen time, and highlight the benefits of breaks such as school phone bans in helping youth develop healthier self-control.
