Meet the 87th North Iowa Band Festival Klempnauer Honoree

Klempnauer Award – Amy Fleming

I love the energy this festival brings to the community and the entire North Iowa area. The schools, organizations, and businesses all come together to celebrate music, our heritage, and a shared sense of pride for where we live.

I began volunteering on the committee in 1999 when longtime chair Vance Baird asked if I would join. Through the years, I’ve worked on the Entertainment Committee, and eventually I also took on the role of Chairperson several years ago.

Some of my favorite memories include watching my children march in the parade, broadcasting the parade on TV, and surprising my dad, Tim Fleming, on the air with the Grand Marshal Award in 2015.

What makes the festival so special is that there truly is something for everyone. It’s a local tradition that pulls together camaraderie and community spirit. There are so many talented individuals in our community who step up year after year to help put on a wonderful festival.

I am truly honored to receive this recognition. The festival has long been a cherished tradition in our community, bringing people together through music, celebration, and a shared sense of pride in North Iowa. To be recognized in connection with something that holds so much history and spirit is truly special.
