First Citizens Bank (FCB) is a proud tournament sponsor of the annual Chamber Golf Outing, held on alternate years at Highland Golf Course and at Legacy at the 19. Along with our sponsorship, FCB has two teams and has presence at one of the holes each year. If you’ve never participated or are unsure of why sponsoring, participating or having presence at a hole could be valuable for your business, here are some reasons why FCB has participated year after year.
It’s a casual, no pressure way to network, including with your own coworkers.
Getting out of the office and having fun is a great way to build teamwork among employees. If you use this as a business networking event you can build camaraderie with the team you are paired with, or you can have clients be with you on your own team. The possibilities are endless. If you have a presence at one of the holes, you have the opportunity to talk and network with everyone golfing, which gives you a perfect way to meet and interact with people you may not know.
It gives your brand visibility and grows awareness.
Whether you sponsor the tournament or have presence at the hole, your logo will be associated with the event. If you pass out any swag with logos, your brand will go with the golfers as well, giving you longevity beyond just that day. Interactions with employees at the hole also create a memorable stop during the day.

While we are all busy and we have a never-ending to-do list, there is something to be said for getting out of the office and resetting ourselves. Golfers commit to the whole day, but if you have a presence at a hole and you have enough staff coverage, you can split the day into shifts, allowing a balance between the office and nature. Plus, those of us who work in an office can enjoy the sunshine (let’s just hope the bugs cooperate!).
