When we agreed to host a Chamber Business After Hours at Henkel’s offices at 208 E State Street, we were concerned about hosting in January. We were assured by the Chamber we’d get a good turnout, so we said yes. When the day arrived, it ended up being a bitterly cold day, and we resigned ourselves to low expectations, sure that the weather would keep people at home. We could not have been more wrong.
Shortly after the event got underway, our offices were packed. Roughly 150 business leaders, partners, and neighbors walked through our doors, completely shattering our initial expectations. It was a powerful, firsthand reminder of a fundamental truth about our region: if you have doubts about whether people will show up to support your business, don’t. We are incredibly fortunate to live and work in a remarkably engaged business community.
