My name is Kinnick Iles, and I am an incoming junior at Mason City High School. I applied for the YIELD program because I thought it was interesting, valuable, and a great way for me to learn more leadership skills. Another reason I applied was because my sister was in the program last year, and she told me about the things YIELD taught her and how much fun she had while making new friends.
I am looking forward to making new memories and having experiences that other programs might not be able to offer. I am also excited to hear everyone’s ideas, which we can all collaborate on and share as a team. I am also excited to meet new people I might not know very well and spend time with friends I already know in this group setting.
I know YIELD will teach me a lot that I can carry with me throughout my life. I hope to be able to apply what I learn to help myself during times of struggle and to help other people who might be stuck in a tough situation. This program will also help me step out of my comfort zone and teach me that it is okay to have my voice heard and share my ideas.
I know YIELD will help my group of juniors become better people and better leaders throughout our lives, which will positively impact our future and our community. I can’t wait to see how YIELD will inspire me, as well as the memories and friendships that will come from being part of this program in Mason City.
