Colleen Frein joined the Chamber staff in 2015 and was promoted to President & CEO in 2023. Colleen is a native of Rochester, MN, completed undergraduate studies at St. Cloud State University, and holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from University of Iowa. Colleen earned the Certified Chamber Executive (CCE) designation – the highest professional designation in the chamber profession – in 2025. She also received the designation of IOM from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation Institute for Organization Management in 2019.
Colleen is a member of the IEDA City Development Board, an executive board member of the Iowa Association of Chambers of Commerce, and a board member of the Iowa Chamber Alliance. She serves with the Child Care Works collaborative and the Youth Task Force Executive Committee. She has also served on the Governor’s Child Care Task Force and Charlie Brown Preschool & Child Care Board of Directors and is a passionate advocate for access to childcare for families.
Prior to her work at the Chamber, she had a decade of experience as an award-winning multi-media journalist for KIMT News 3 in Mason City and KWWL-TV in Waterloo, IA.
Colleen enjoys being involved in the community through a variety of volunteer efforts, including serving as a past-president and current member of the River City Morning Kiwanis Club and committee member at Trinity Lutheran Church.
