Progress is clearly visible in the 300 block of East State Street. The Historic Egloff House was moved from the Park Place neighborhood in mid-August. The house, which was cut into two pieces to reduce the size and load, successfully negotiated the “bridge over the bridge” on North Carolina Avenue, steep grade, and sharp corners to arrive at its new home to the delight of hundreds of onlookers.
Iowa Business Growth, Wright on the Park, and the Chamber are partners in this community development project through an association entitled Community Benefit-Mason City. This organization was created in 2011 following the Vision Iowa project to restore the Historic Park Inn Hotel.
Since that time, the group made a significant contribution to The Music Man Square which enabled the Mason City Foundation to pay off its mortgage on the property; sparked the idea and provided seed funding for River City Sculptures on Parade; and has assisted with several other initiatives.
