Investing in a Future Leader

Written by: Treyton Elwood, Greater Mason City Chamber Agribusiness Scholarship

My name is Treyton Elwood, and I am from Mason City. I am currently a freshman at North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC), where I am studying STEM and agriculture focused coursework. I am on track to graduate in the spring of 2027 and plan to attend a four-year institution to pursue a bachelor’s
degree.

At NIACC, I serve as the manager of the baseball team, and I am member of the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society. Outside of academics, I enjoy fishing, hunting, and weightlifting. I have always enjoyed being outdoors and staying active, which is what first drew me toward agriculture and STEM related fields.

I am especially interested in how problem-solving, technology, and innovation can improve the way things are built, managed, and sustained over time. While I am still exploring exactly what I want to pursue long term, I know I want a career that combines leadership, practical skills, and meaningful real world impact.

I am the son of Amy Fleming and Troy Elwood, and I am truly grateful to be a recipient of the Greater Mason City Chamber Agribusiness Scholarship. I appreciate the opportunity this scholarship provides to continue learning and growing in these areas.
