Legislative Preview

The 2026 Iowa Legislative Session begins January 12 and carries added significance as it marks Governor Kim Reynolds’ final session as governor. As legislators return to Des Moines, the Greater Mason City Chamber of Commerce is prepared to be engaged, present, and advocating on behalf of our members.

Chamber staff will be in Des Moines on a regular basis throughout the session and in consistent contact with our local legislators. On March 18, we will host our fourth annual North Iowa Day on the Hill, an effort focused on increasing North Iowa’s visibility at the Statehouse and strengthening relationships with state leaders.

To keep members informed, the Chamber Advocate newsletter will resume in January, providing weekly updates on business-related legislation and priorities. All formal lobbying efforts are conducted through the Iowa Chamber Alliance, whose experienced team works closely with legislative leadership to ensure business voices are heard.

Fostering open communication between our members and elected officials is central to our mission and a key board priority. If questions or challenges arise, we encourage members to reach out so we can advocate on your behalf.
