Band Master – Jeff Kirkpatrick
I’ve spent 41 years as a music educator, including the past 34 years as Director of Bands at Osage High School, following five years as the 5–8 grade director in Osage. Prior to that, I served as band director at Rockwell-Swaledale Community School District. Music education has been my life’s work, and I am incredibly grateful to have spent my career serving students and communities in North Iowa.
When I took over the high school band position in Osage, the Osage band returned to participating in the Band Festival, and we have marched every other year consistently over the years. I really do enjoy this parade, with all the people assembled to watch and support the bands, especially when we happen to get nice weather.
I cherish the great performances we have had in Osage over the years. I feel that performing live music is the best way to support Iowa’s musical heritage.
I love living and teaching in North Iowa. The Band Festival is an important part of our musical culture in the area. I feel very honored to be recognized as part of this great event.
