The Ride That Brings Us Together

The Moonlight Bike Ride is one of my favorite events of the year. I’ve participated for years, and every time I do, I’m reminded how lucky I am to be part of this community. Last year, none of my friends or family could make it, so I almost skipped it. Instead, I went by myself and honestly, I ended up having the best time.

That’s the thing about the Moonlight Bike Ride. Even if you show up alone, you’re never really alone. People are friendly, conversations happen naturally, and somehow you end up making friends along the way.

There is something so peaceful about riding through Mason City at night. The city looks beautiful, and it gives you a chance to slow down and appreciate it in a different way. My favorite part is seeing all the little kids with their bikes covered in lights. They get so excited, and they pedal so fast on their little bikes… it’s impossible not to smile when you see them riding by.

Events like this are what make me appreciate the community I was raised in and still get to call home. It’s one of those simple, fun traditions that brings people together and reminds us what a special place Mason City really is. Plus, they always serve the best food at the end!

Thank you to everyone at the Chamber who works so hard to make this event happen. The Moonlight Bike Ride is one of the coolest things we do as a community, and I look forward to it every year. Here’s to the biggest crowd, the brightest bikes, and the best ride yet.
